Student: Kuklin Aleksandr

Supervisor: Rimma Akhmetsafina

Faculty: School of Software Engineering

Educational Programme: Bachelor

Final Grade: 8

Year of Graduation: 2014

Report 38 p., 3 chapters, 22 fig., 2 tables, 16 sources, 4 appendices.

video steganography, steganography mpeg, information hiding in video, information hiding and extraction, discrete cosine transform, error correcting code, binary cyclic code

The development object is an application for steganography information hiding in MPEG video files.

The purpose of the work – a development of application, that would allow to embed information into MPEG video files and extract embedded information from MPEG video files concealing the fact of embedding.

The analysis of existing approaches for video steganography and algorithms used by this approaches was carried out during the work. Also, a model of MPEG compression was studied.

As a result of the work an application which allows embedding text and images in MPEG video files and extracting text and images from MPEG video files was developed. The method of embedding is based on discrete cosine transform. Error correcting codes was used to increase resilience of embedded data.

The application can be used to transmit confidential information on electronic media or communication links.

In the future it is planned to increase the performance of the application, examine some other methods of embedding information in video files and add them to the current functionality of the application.
