Hitler's rising to power and aggressive policy of the National-Socialist Party were of big interest to the leaders of the Military Russia Abroad (Russkoe voennoe Zarubezh'e). In the context of an eventual German invasion of the Soviet Union, they had to make arduous choice not only in respect of collaboration with Hitler, but in respect to the hateful Soviet Union. Major General A.A. von Lampe as one of the central persons of the Military Russia Abroad in Germany was not only an eyewitness of this history, but an émigré who made this choice. This research work seeks to analyze the diaries of von Lampe and on the basis of this source to explore more particularly an atmosphere which existed in Military Russia Abroad before and during the early period of the World War Two. Recent researchers have taken into account von Lampe's materials on this period, but these attempts were scattered. Using General's evidence, the paper argues that in stated period the Military Russia Abroad was at the historic crossroad and had a some significance for German war policy. In sum, through one individual life of Lampe, and, particularly, through his collection, the proposal argues significance of the latter and a diversity of Russian military émigrés in the crucial epoch. The paper is based on the wide archival material which is still unpublished. During the work the author had uncovered a big quantity of the most representative documents which composed the analysis.
