For what reason Russian companies are losing heavily in profitability to foreign companies?

Restructuring of the 1980s, the collapse of the Soviet Union, as well as all sorts of radical changes of economic principles at the time led to a situation in which previous regulatory measures have not been effective. Thus, quite a rapid transition from a command economy to a market led to the need for the Russian business to develop a radically new system of management of the organization, whose prosperity this time depended entirely on the recipient of goods or services.

In addition, the important fact is that the theory of management in Russia began to emerge recently and not without strong influence of scholars such as Taylor, Ford and Fayol . However, testing Western theories in the Russian reality often leads to undesirable results, because the economic prerequisites of management theory differ greatly. Here comes an understanding of why the potential of the Russian management is strongly underestimated.

Relevance of research stems from the low level of management, under which domestic companies have to use the experience of foreign competitors, in most cases without testing. Companies have significant costs in terms of money and time, engaged in the development and implementation of programs for the development of leadership skills of staff, but the expediency of such investments is questionable.

This paper aims to answer the question: «Does organization always need leadership? »

The solution to this problem, of course, assumes the utility management companies, which can be more appropriate to budget and staff management.

This graduate work is based on the research works of such management theorists as Stogdill , Daft, Weber, Fiedler Hall, Milner, Hersey and Blanchard , as well as on the publications of Russian scientists , including Yakhontova , Latygin, Pavlova, Spivak and Filonovich .

The object of this study is the organizational leadership.

The subject of research is the need of Russian organizations in leadership.

The hypothesis that should be testes in this paper is as follows:

H1: There are situations in which the organization does not feel the need for leadership.

To test this hypothesis empirical and expert methods of research will be used: analysis of the literature in the framework of organizations and organizational behavior, case - analysis and the expert interview.

In the first chapter of this paper the term " leadership " is defined, terms "leadership" , "management" and "leadership" are delineated , situational variables that may affect the need for leadership in the organization are analyzed , and common purpose in writing this chapter is to provide a theoretical basis for the empirical research.

The second chapter is devoted to a description of the study and empirical model.

The third chapter describes the results of the study, and gives an answer to the problem indicated in the research question.
