The mechanisms of project management in consulting industry

<p align="center">Annotation</p><p style="margin-left: -14.2pt;">Master Thesis &laquo;The Mechanisms of Project Management in Consulting Industry&raquo; contains: introduction, three chapters (theoretical, research, applied), conclusion. In a contemporary world we observe more and more companies from different industries, which are mainly oriented to project execution for external and internal clients. Project activity is also considered as the most effective form, used for carrying out organizational changes. However, PM independent implementation by company&rsquo;s management often brings with itself typical problems, which were described in details in Thesis. External consultants&rsquo; involvement allows to implement or optimize PM system faster and more effective. Within the framework of Thesis author conducted diagnostics of PM system in certain organization, formulated recommendations for this company to optimize its&rsquo; PM system by analogy with how it is typically done by professional consultants during the project. This theme holds significant scientific novelty, since no similar attempts to systematize theoretical base, to conduct two-sided research - questionnaire for consulting process participants (clients and consultants), to formulate solid action program to solve certain problems in PM system of a company, were detected.</p><p style="margin-left: -14.2pt;"><strong>Goal</strong>&nbsp;&ndash; to research peculiarities of project management system implementation in companies; summarize best consulting practices, formulate applied recommendations for PM system enhancement by the example of a particular company.</p><p style="margin-left: -14.2pt;"><strong>Objectives,&nbsp;</strong>achieved in a first part of the Thesis:</p><p style="margin-left: 36pt;">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Theoretical review of basic mechanisms of PM implementation in organizations &ndash; consulting companies&rsquo; clients;</p><p>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Detection of the most widespread motives for companies to turn to professional PM consultants; analysis of range of services provided by consulting companies in the area of PM implementation.</p><p>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Comparative analysis of a set of PM tools implemented depending on the industry of a client-company.</p><p style="margin-left: 18pt;"><strong>Objectives,&nbsp;</strong>achieved in a research part of the Thesis:</p><p style="margin-left: 54pt;">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Research of Russian companies &ndash; questionnaire for management representatives of a companies planning to/have already implemented PM in their companies.</p><p style="margin-left: 54pt;">2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Research of consulting companies - questionnaire for PM consultants. &nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left: 54pt;">3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; PM most popular tools&rsquo; analysis in respect to its efficiency and applicability.</p><p style="margin-left: 54pt;">4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Characteristics of a typical consumer of a PM consulting services; detection of problems, which management plans to solve by means of Project Management.</p><p style="margin-left: 54pt;">5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Summarizing of industrial peculiarities of companies for optimal PM tool choice in accordance with organizational needs.</p><p>In third part of a Thesis author conducted review of applied aspects of PM implementation with special emphasis on opportunities for effectiveness increase in terms of costs and time management. As a result of the research, author gave recommendations for effectiveness increase of PM System in a particular company, taking into account business specifics, current condition of PM system. Author also developed action program for PM system optimization by the example of a particular company.</p><p>Conclusion contains review of the main conclusions and recommendations for PM consulting projects execution.&nbsp;</p>
