According to the Program, by 2018 the average salary of physicians will be twice as much as the average salary in the region. The main objective of this reform is to increase the wages of state employees by linking it with performance indicators. So, the question about changing a socio-professional status of the Russian physician because of the effective contract application becomes relevant.

Object of research: physicians of state medical institutions in Russia.

Subject of research: nature, specificity and direction of changing the physicians` socio-professional status because of the effective contract application in Russia.

Research Purpose: to reveal the nature of the possible impact of the effective contract application on the socio-professional status of Russian physicians.

Tasks:

1. Analyze the available literature and studies related to the social status of physicians professional group, especially about the formation of wages; to analyze a statistical data connected with socio-demographic and socio-economic status of physicians in the 2000s.

2. Develop a series of formal interviews.

5. Identify the factors, which can affect changes in their socio-professional status through the series of interviews with Moscow physicians.

6. Formulate the conclusion and recommendations regarding the application of an effective contract model for Russian physicians in terms of its impact on the socio-professional status.

The initial hypothesis: the application of an effective contract model for Russian physicians has uneven impact on the components of their social and professional status (economic, cultural and authority).

Empirical base of the research: questionnaire surveys of Russian physicians conducted in 2007-2013; formalized semi-structured interviews with physicians of Moscow medical institutions.

The initial hypothesis was confirmed by the study: the application of an effective contract model for Russian physicians has uneven impact on the components of their social and professional status (economic, cultural and authority). The greatest impact will be made on its economic component.

We cannot make an unambiguous conclusion that the socio-professional status of the physician will be improved only because of the effective contract. Effective contract in combination with other factors that will also have a positive impact on the status is able to increase the socio-professional status of the physician in Russian society. The factors that can raise the physician status are: satisfaction with the amount of work and the workplace organization; professional recognition; law and legal protection; increasing the physicians` educational level and qualification; solving problems with the public health financing.

The complexity of the «socio-professional status» concept and physicians` poly-validity activity are open new ways for searching the factors that could affect the status of a physician in modern Russian society.
