Counteracting the Legalization (Money Laundering) of Proceeds from Crime

<p>Money laundering is currently one of the main problems affecting the modern banking business. For example, in the Russian Federation licenses of 29 credit institutions had revoked, including 18 due to suspicious transactions and violations of the law № 115 &laquo;On counteraction to legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime and financing of terrorism&raquo; since January, 2014.</p><p>The problem remains relevant because the legalization of proceeds from crime can be a cause the following negative consequences: the involvement of banks in the various schemes, undermining the integrity of financial markets, the loss of control over economic policy, economic strain and instability, loss of income, the risk of privatization and social costs.</p><p>This paper presents the final qualifying models &quot;laundering&quot; of money, typical of Russian and foreign practice. The author examined the legal framework for combating money laundering. Finally, the author makes regressions describing the influence of individual factors on the number of crimes committed by &quot;laundering&quot; of money.</p>
