Risk-Oriented Supervision Over Credit Institutions by the Bank of Russia

<p>The application of risk-based approaches in banking regulation and supervision is one of main direction of development of Russian system of banking regulation and supervision. One of the drawbacks of Russian banking supervision is application in his practice mainly formal approaches in assessing the financial condition of credit institutions. This is due to the fact that the Bank of Russia legally limited in its legal options for the application of risk-based approaches to the assessment of existing and potential risks. The main aim of the thesis is to assess condition of risk-based banking supervision in Russia, to define and structure the basic problems of its development and suggest ways for its further improvement.</p>
