Project management office in sport industry organization

<p>The basic issue of the following study is the process of Project management office development and implementation within the sport industry organization. The theme was chosen for research taking into account the forthcoming international sport projects that will take place in Russia, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi 2014 that were taking place in February, Hockey World Championship 2016 in Moscow and St. Petersburg, FIFA World Cup 2018 and other sport events with main aim to strengthen and develop the existing infrastructure that would be used to improve the state policy within youth and general sport activity in our country in long-run perspective.</p><p>The process of key project management procedures and methods adaptation and modification within Project management office with the aim of efficiency maximization can be stated as the basic research problem. The main hypothesis can be formulated as discrepancy of existing Project management office structure with the model that can be designed with the help of theoretical and empirical research within the chosen sphere aimed to maximize the efficiency level and bring out the potential benefits to the organization at all and to the entire industry. The specification of key procedures and efficiency analysis of Project management office as a part of Project management system within the organization can be stated as a mail goal of the following research. As a part of the entire study it is crucially important to designate the key objectives bringing the research to the final result:</p><ol><li>Key specifications of Project management offices in sport industry detection</li><li>Potential fields for optimization within the Office with the aim of general efficiency maximization</li><li>Key Project management office function depending on the lifecycle stage of the project</li></ol><p>The first part of the research sheds the light on theoretical basis of Project management office design, development and implementation in the organization, and also focuses on key procedures within the sport industry within the framework of Project management approach. Following the theoretical research the main findings and statements were also studied within the empirical part developed to verify the approaches discussed in the real sport industry organization. Taking into account the experience of work in Project management structure of such an organization the next step of the whole research was connected with the survey of higher level professionals involved in Olympic Games project realization. The additional materials collected within the practice were also studied in order to increase the accuracy of the theoretical model built.</p><p>Speaking about key findings and outcomes it is crucially important to note the Project management office model built based on the theoretical and empirical research results, with specification of main activities, functions, goals and objectives. Taking into account the project management system studied there were also designed the possible models of Change management and Operational planning aimed to increase the quality of the final product in the international sport project.</p>
