Content Analysis of Translations with the Usage of Program LEKTA Based on the Cycle of J.R. Kipling Fairy-tales «Just So Stories»

Student: Odinczova Anna

Supervisor: Vera Sibirtseva

Faculty: Faculty of Informatics, Mathematics, and Computer Science (HSE Nizhny Novgorod)

Educational Programme: Master

Year of Graduation: 2014

The diploma describes an original method based on eleven translations of the J.R. Kipling’s fairy-tales «How the Leopard got his Spots» and «The Sing-Song of Old Man Kangaroo» with the usage of the program Lekta (lexical-semantic text analyzer). The output given by this program distinguishes factors determining non-obvious relationships in texts. The method allows to assess the adequacy of author’s meanings and can be used in the practical needs of translation.
