Life Strategies of HIV Positive People and Their Self-Presentation in Public

<p>The aims of this study are identify different types of life strategies of HIV-positive, structuring its, finding differences between lives strategies of HIV infected, the allocation to groups and identifying different types of HIV-positive self-presentation. An objective of this study is identifying the mechanisms of self and life strategies in HIV infected patients to determine the relationship between them.</p><p>The study is the sample. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews with 11 respondents aged 26 to 49 years. Respondents are people living with HIV from six months to 17 years, one of the respondents have the first stage of the development of AIDS. The marital status, place of residence, presence of children or pregnancy, the causes of HIV infection are not matter to get into the sample.</p><p>In this research used the types of samples like as a sample of volunteers, expert selection and &quot;snowball&quot;. Also used analysis of the personal pages of respondents in social networks.</p><p>The preparatory phase of the research is a review of the scientific literature and articles, official statistics data of HIV-positive, visiting forums, collecting official information on the Internet. The first stage of the research is conducting the pilot study, communication with experts in the field of HIV / AIDS. The second stage is search respondents among HIV positive and the appointment interview to them. Third stage is chatting on the phone or on Skype with the respondent during 25-30 minutes.</p><p>Identified in the study are two important points in the perception of HIV status: first is a defining moment of HIV, and the second is a moment of self-acceptance with HIV. The HIV positive people choose life strategies between these important events. I identified a&nbsp; following types of reaction to the news of having HIV:</p><p>1. Fear;</p><p style="margin-left:35.4pt;">1) Fear of the future with HIV;</p><p style="margin-left:35.4pt;">2) Fear of death;</p><p style="margin-left:35.4pt;">3) Fear of infecting others;</p><p style="margin-left:35.4pt;">4) Fear to tell other people about HIV;</p><p style="margin-left:35.4pt;">5) Fear of the unknown (What is HIV? What to do? )</p><p>2. Abstraction, ignoring the infection;</p><p>3. Self-consolation;</p><p>4. Stun;</p><p>5. Hurt;</p><p>6. Loss of the sense of life, loss of interest in the future.</p><p>The second stage of the illness is a complicated period of life when HIV people find the strength to make plans, change life strategies as a result of a radically changed situation. Identified several life strategies by which HIV on this period:</p><p>1. Closed from the world, apathy and depression;</p><p>2. Self-destruction;</p><p>3. Abstracting from the disease, continued their traditional way of life;</p><p>4. Search for new knowledge about HIV;</p><p>5. Contacting AIDS centers;</p><p>6. Expectation of support from relatives;</p><p>7. Communicating with other HIV -positive.</p><p>These strategies are deliberate and thoughtful, and strategies may occur simultaneously or in succession. Life strategies of HIV positive people for the future are also deliberate and thoughtful:</p><p>1. Socially active position in life, help other HIV positive people;</p><p>2. Protective life strategy;</p><p>3. Conflict-free communication strategy;</p><p>4. Creating family;</p><p>5. Abstraction of HIV status;</p><p>6. Depression and apathy;</p><p>7. Belief in God as a vital strategy.</p><p>In the study, there are several types of self-presentation of HIV positive people:</p><p>1. Behavior average person (ignoring, withholding HIV);</p><p>2. Excessive optimism (ignoring the danger of HIV infection);</p><p>3. Role Model (family man, a believer, a successful, purposeful);</p><p>4. Activity in many areas;</p><p>5. Love for Life;</p><p>6. Discretion, a penchant for philosophy and reflexing;</p><p>7. Oppression, hopelessness, apathetic state;</p><p>8. Aggression, anger;</p><p>9. Calling pity from relatives and associates;</p><p>10. Lack of responsibility for their lives (excessive fatalism
