Barriers to implementation of Talent management program on the example of the Russian organization

<p>On the theme: &laquo;Barriers to implementation of Talent management program on the example of the Russian organization&raquo;.</p><p>Keywords: talent management, talent, young talent.</p><p>The object of research is a talent management program in the Russian company.</p><p>The subject - barriers to implementation of the talent management program (TM).</p><p>The main purpose of the research was to identify barriers in the implementation of talent management program in the Russian company. We used qualitative methods of research for data collection and analysis - semi-structured interviews with process&rsquo;s stakeholders of talent management program in the company and a content analysis from open source information (talent management programs in Russian organizations). Conducted 18 interviews and analyzed 20 talent management programs of Russian companies.</p><p>The first chapter analyzes the theoretical framework on the research problem. Was revealed two main approaches to talent management processes:</p><p>- Straight interpretation of TM, where it&rsquo;s regarded as one of the auxiliary functions (targeted search and development of talent, talents are matched only for key positions, TM supporting function performs the main objectives of the organization - profit);</p><p>- Wide interpretation, where TM - integrated into the all business processes element (an integral part of the company&#39;s management, talent development occurs at all levels and for all personnel, continuous TM process).</p><p>In the second chapter there are the characteristic of the object of research, disclosed the company&#39;s structure. The third chapter provides an analysis of empirical data and it&#39;s results. The methods of data analysis were content analysis of talent management programs in 20 large Russian companies from the list of Forbes &laquo;Global 2000 Leading Companies in 2013&raquo;. Thereby we have identified key features of the TM process in the native companies. Also we&rsquo;ve been made in the categorization of the data obtained during the interview and there were allocated codes representative for all stages of the implementation of the talent management program.</p><p>During the analysis, the author has identified certain norm - the &laquo;ideal&raquo; model of the TM program, in which the entire process is decomposed into stages. Then the stages were analyzed:</p><p>- Based on the Order of the TM program in the company analyzed the design stage;</p><p>- Based on the collected data through interviews analyzed the process of implementation.</p><p>As a result of this research, we identified two groups of barriers to successful implementation of talent management in the Russian company:</p><p>➢ Organizational - discrepancy with the formal requirements, weak formalization of documents and processes associated with the program, the lack of significant stages of implementation;</p><p>➢ Barriers perception - underestimating / limited understanding of the strategic role of TM program management.</p><p>The findings are relevant information for personnel involved into the process, and also for senior management of the company</p>
