The aim of this work is to investigate ethnic food as a special resource of national identity of Moscow Ossetians. As food practices emphasize or negate the distinctiveness of the everyday life of Ossetians,as passed the tradition of the food culture in the city. The key question is this: is it possible to find the connection between the conscious and supported national identity, on the one hand, and food practices in the regime of national cuisine, on the other hand. In the context of this hypothetical regard, we see the main problem is daily practice in multicultural city tend to blur the national outlined samples. Cosmopolitanism large Metropolitan cities opposes national Diaspora efforts in the conservation of specific national culture, to which its members must make extra efforts to reproduce cultural patterns and transmission to future generations. The analysis of empirical data revealed the following pattern:1) One of the most important conclusions of this work was the fact that Ossetians reproduce and pass on the practice of the national cuisine in the family from generation to generation.2) Women in the family has a more prominent role in the transmission of traditions in everyday life, because men are involved in the preparation of ethnic food almost exclusively on holidays3) Food practices ethnicity is not only supported, but also plays in everyday life4) Women increasingly participate in the process of transmission and reproduction Ethnology within the family5) We Can say that we have not identified a marker of cultural boundaries, i.e., adaptation of Ossetians in Moscow implies strict distinction to appropriate food and inappropriate modes6) Awareness food identity and its relationship with national traditions is a powerful driver for maintaining cultural identity.
