The Problem of Loneliness among the Teenagers in Modern Urban Environment

<p>This study focuses on the problem of loneliness in urban modern environment. Due to technological progress there are more opportunities to learn remotely, work, shop and even communicate online. This factor is one of many reasons, which can lead to a social disunity between people. So, we can say that the new way of social interaction appears in our days. When people leave a school or graduate a university, many of them, try to find a distance job. The situation of being at home for a long time, becomes quiet usual and natural state of human. This habit can influence on communication skills, which entails inability to create a family, and also can lead to a sense of fear, of finding new social contacts. This situation seems to be dangerous, especially for a young person, who need to learn the real contacts to be able to take the responsibility to make decisions and not be alone in later life.</p><p>The main goal is to study the phenomenon of loneliness among young people. The author refers to the previous works, which study this problem and finds lack of knowledge of the sociological aspects of loneliness among young people.</p><p>The objects of study are young people, aged from 15 to 19 years, and living in Moscow.<br />The study is qualitative in nature, and to evaluate the results of the study, we have used the method of grounded theory. The method, which we applied for the process of data collection, is called semiformalized personal interview. Interviews were conducted with students of secondary schools, as well as students of initial courses of Moscow universities. The process of selection of respondents took place on the special forums on the Internet and social networking communities.</p><p>The study aims to identify the extent of the problem, the danger of which, the author sees that loneliness one person gradually gains in scale, becoming a social problem, as well as the border of society in the loneliness of man. The paper discusses and analyzes the specific features of young people&rsquo;s loneliness, as well as the possible positive side of this state for teenagers.</p><p>The study showed that the majority of respondents aware of his loneliness, looking for ways to deal with these feelings, mainly burdened them. However, some of respondents are noting the positive side effects of these experiences. Tendency to introspection and reflection causes the search privacy. Respondents note that it gives them the opportunity to set priorities in their life.</p>
