Perceived threat as a factor of the accepting population’s attitude to migrants: on the example of the students of the Moscow University of the Russian Interior Ministry

<p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>This project is devoted to studying the phenomenon of perceived threat as a factor of host population&rsquo;s attitude to migrants on the example of the students of the Moscow University of the Russian Interior Ministry. As inhabitants of the megalopolis which is subject to a constant flow of migrants, Moscow students of the Moscow University of the Russian Interior Ministry inevitably face a problem of cross-cultural interaction with migrants arriving to the country. This aspect of social life, certainly, is problem. According to theories of some sociologists, such as G. Triandis, A.N. Tatarko, N. M. Lebedeva, etc., in many respects defines the attitude of the accepting population towards migrants such socially the phenomenon, as perceived threat. Considering specifics of modern realities of public life in Moscow, studying of the questions connected with cross-cultural interaction and the attitude of the accepting population towards migrants gains special relevance. Objective of this research is consideration of perceived threat as factor of the relation of Moscow students of the Moscow University of the Russian Interior Ministry to migrants and definition of the reasons of formation, and also qualitative characteristics of the perceived threat existing at Moscow students of the Moscow University of the Russian Interior Ministry. Achievement of a goal is carried out by carrying out 6-8 semi-formalized deep interviews to students of the Moscow University of the Russian Interior Ministry who identify itself with the accepting population. Thus the main emphasis was put on detection of features specific to this concrete social category, both in the attitude towards migrants, and in specifics of perceived threat.</p><p>Summarizing results of research it is possible to tell that the research objective was reached as perceived threat was identified among Moscow students of the Moscow University of the Moscow University of the Russian Interior Ministry, in detail and is comprehensively analyzed. A number of its qualitative characteristics is successfully allocated. Perceived threat was considered as a factor of the relation of Moscow students Moscow University of the Russian Interior Ministry to migrants, and it was succeeded to reveal some very specific social phenomena and to establish essential value of perceived threat in formation at Moscow students of the Moscow University of the Russian Interior Ministry of the relation to migrants.</p>
