Comprehensive Assessment of the Level of Development of the City

<p style="text-align: justify;">This research &quot;Comprehensive Assessment of the Level of Development of the City&quot; contains 8 figures, 5 tables, and 1 appendix. This work consists of 49 pages. It was used 38 sources in order to write this report. Keywords: urban development, comprehensive assessment, integral indicator of the level of city development.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Sustainable city development is a central problem of various cities in Russia. Because of this fact this study is very important. Nowadays many cities are developing intensively and in this case it is necessary to know how to assess their levels of development.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">The goal of this research is the developing of method for assessment of the level of development of cities in Russia. The object of this report is Russian cities. The subject of this work is the level of city development.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">After writing literature review it was found that the biggest part of studies are conducted in the sphere of urban development. Also various research describe different factors which can influence the level of city development. But it is impossible to find one particular scientific research which contains a complete list of important factors which can be considered as criteria in order to form a correct assessment of the level of city development. Also it is impossible to find a scientific work conducted in Russia in the sphere of assessment of the level of city development. Scientific novelty of the research is that in this paper formed a particular method of comprehensive assessment of the level of city development. Practical significance is that the method of assessment of the level of development of the city which was described in this study can be used in order to estimate the level of development of all Russian cities if there will be full data.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">In the first chapter &quot;Theoretical base of creating a method of assessment of the level of development of the city&quot; the concepts of &quot;city&quot; and &quot;urban development&quot; are discussed and also modern approaches to comprehensive assessment of the level of city development are mentioned.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">In the second chapter &quot;The formation of a complex method of assessment of the level of development of the city&quot; the specific list of important criteria for assessment are made and the methods of comprehensive assessment of the level of city development and forecasting data for three years are described.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">In the third chapter &quot;The results of the comprehensive assessment and prediction of the level of development of megacities&quot; the results of estimation of integrated indicators of development of 15 megacities and forecasting of missing data for 2012-2014 years are presented. Estimation of the integral indicator of the level of development of 15 megacities was made for the period 2005-2014 years.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">As a result, it was found that the more successful cities with the highest value of the integral indicator of the level of city development are Kazan, Moscow, Ufa and according to the forecast - Samara. Less successful cities with the lowest values ​​of the integral indicator of the level of development of the city are Volgograd and according to the forecast - Omsk.</p>
