The bachelor’s thesis "Comparative analysis of innovation activity of the Russian Federation" contains 11 figures, 8 tables and 2 appendices. It consists of 63 pages and 62 sources. Keywords: innovation, innovation sphere, innovation activity, innovation, innovation process patents.

To occupy the leading positions in the world market, Russia should become a country of innovators. On the one hand, supporting innovative sphere is in the list of priority tasks of the state On the other hand, this sector is developing extremely uneven and in some regions do not have proper conditions for the implementation of innovation.

The problem is that in Russia borrowing innovations are several times greater innovations developed in the country. Thus, for Russia it is not possible to occupy a leading position on the world stage. Urgency of the problem is due to the statistical data. We can say that in the period from 2010 to 2012 year ratio of import is growing. Moreover, there is a trend of increasing this ratio.

The purpose of this paper is a comparative analysis of the influence of various factors on the innovation activity in the regions of the Russian Federation. The object of study in this paper is an innovative activity. The subject of this work is the development of innovative activity in the regions.

The main sources of statistical data in this paper are base Rosstat and statistical compilations developed by HSE. The topic of innovation activity can be found in works of several authors: Golenkov VA, Hochberg LM, Kalugin ZI, Kolosnitsyna MG, Kiselev VV, TA Kulakov Crescenzi, R., Rodríguez -Pose, Fritsch M., Slavtchev V., Fagerberg J., Feldman MP, Srholec M. Stoneman P., Battisti G., Girma S. Crescenzi, R., Rodríguez-Pose, A., M. Storper and others.

Scientific novelty stems from the fact that with the help of econometric studies and the division of regions into clusters there is opportunity to conduct a comparative analysis of innovative activity in regions. The remaining existing econometric studies in bulk immediately cover the entire list of subjects of the Russian Federation, which makes it impossible to conduct a comparative analysis.

The practical significance of this study lies in the fact that, we can develop a set of measures aimed at supporting innovation activity in the regions.

The first chapter "Theoretical Foundations of innovation" contains term of innovation and management in innovation sphere of Russia.

The second chapter, "Indicators of innovation development at the regional level" includes evaluation of the main tools of innovation activity and comparative analysis based on the methodology rating.

The third chapter, "Assessment of innovative activity in the regions of the Russian Federation: a comparative analysis" consist of the comparative analysis of innovation activity on the basis of a comprehensive econometric analysis using cluster principle.

As a result of complex econometric analysis we can assume that the most significant factor influencing the innovation activity is human capital, as it is present in three models

The presence of physical capital and investment is also important for all groups of subjects, as it creates demand for innovative products and supply. Funding innovative research and development is carried out mainly in the first and second group. This figure is insignificant compared with the internal costs. Therefore, we can conclude that a greater number of applications for patents in the first and second groups are caused by intense influx of funding and human capital.

Particular attention should be paid to the fact that the efforts of specialized have a significant impact only in the first group of regions. This phenomenon is explained by the weak regional policy in lagging regions and by the fact that in the leading group there is a high concentration of these organizations.
