Project portfolio management system in Russian Post Company

<p>This work aims to study in the field of portfolio management with the development of a practical model of portfolio management for a particular company in Russia. Through developing a model were consolidated and described the main theoretical approaches in the field of project portfolio management. Paper describes the pros and cons of each approach and gives their comparative characteristics. For a detailed analysis of the needs of the study was carried out in-depth assessment of the organization &laquo;Russian Post&raquo; and its strategy. The study taken into accounts the current maturity of the organizational project management system and was taken into account features of industry. The ultimate practical model of balancing the portfolio and combines both quantitative and qualitative methods and indicators. In the course of using the model of strategic baskets and making multi-piece scoring model based on economic indicators and risk assessments of projects was developed approach, according to which the final scoring model has been translated into a bubble charts format for the possibility of assessing portfolio manageability and investment attractiveness of projects. The developed model allows to identify the most problematic and unsuccessful projects in terms of profitability and risk. The practical result of the model was the cancelling of one of the projects and building a balanced portfolio with a strategy of development and evaluation of the impact of projects. In the context of the study of the state postal company FSUE &quot;Russian Post&quot; this model is most relevant in view of the clarity, ease of use and with the ability to form initial portfolio and monitor already formed. This study reveals the diversity of approaches to managing a portfolio of projects and shows that it combines the best solutions for maximum adaptation to organizational characteristics and the task. This study is recommended to those who are interested in implementation of approaches of project management and project portfolio management in public companies and organizations of postal industry with low maturity of the project management system as a whole.</p>
