Freedom of speech on the Internet

<p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Lucida Grande', Arial, tahoma, verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;">The paper presents a research of the concept &ldquo;right to freedom of speech&rdquo;, peculiarities of its realization in the Internet, and the problems of its limitation and protection. There has been conducted a comparative analysis of the norms of Russian and international law, which enforce the freedom of speech, as well as the norms, determining the peculiarities of realization of freedom of speech in the Internet, the compliance of these norms with basic constitutional rights. There have been distinguished several principles, which characterize Russian and international approaches to the limitation of access to information and the types of information with limited access. The paper includes statistic data and the statistic data and a comparative analysis of nonlegal measures to limit the access to information in the Internet in various countries.&nbsp;</span><br style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Lucida Grande', Arial, tahoma, verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;" /><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Lucida Grande', Arial, tahoma, verdana, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;">Moreover, there have been conducted an analysis of legal positions of European Court of Human Rights and Russian law enforcement practice. There are also researched various instruments for regulation of the content of informational materials, taking into account the peculiarities of various communicative platforms in the Internet. The notion &ldquo;censorship&rdquo; is also distinguished from such instruments as moderation and premoderation; several types of censorship have been characterized. Also attention has been drawn to the successful methods of self-regulation, applied by Internet media in other countries.</span></p>
