In today's competitive world business success often depends on the speed of reaction to changes, which largely depends on the time needed to make the right decision based on relevant and accurate information. Implementation of information-analytical systems can significantly increase the amount of data to be processed and quickly provide the necessary information for managerial decision making.

SAP BI - pretty expensive system, the implementation of which can only be afforded by a large enterprise. Also it does not make sense to implement BI without ERP, where stores the most of the data for processing. Therefore, the number of companies with such capabilities in the Nizhny Novgorod region is limited. I would like to oversee an example of an enterprise engaged in the production of iron and steel products.

My work consists of three main chapters. In the first chapter, I discuss theoretical aspects of information-analytical systems, their types and capabilities. In the second chapter I consider in more detail the SAP BI system, how it differs from the standard functionality discussed in the first chapter. In the third chapter I present some practical examples of configuration data streams for analytical reports, as well as the analysis of system performance, analyze opportunities to optimize its operation.

I have considered a production BI system of metallurgical company, identified the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for the development of the system. I have been developed two streams of data from external systems into SAP BI, one of which contains the user code extractor, the second uses mapping for further loading data into the planning system SAP BPC.

On the basis of these examples, as well as features that the system provides the end user reports, we can conclude that, when used properly, elaborate architecture and periodic maintenance activities, SAP BI is one of the world's leading analytical systems.
