The Current State of The Ural Community Cultural Centers (Case of Satka City, Chelyabinsk region)

<p>Cultural Center (House of culture as it was called in the USSR) is one of the most widespread element of Soviet cultural infrasrtucture and the key instrument of cultural policy in the USSR, but it is still one the most unexplored field in the history of the USSR.<br />The first chapter is dedicated to the history of political and cultural mission of these centers, prescribed by the Party.&nbsp;<br />In the second chapter we analyze current situation in the houses of culture in Satka (small town in Chelyabinsk region): cultural workers&#39;&nbsp;view on their mission, their opinion about mass culture &nbsp;and their strategies of survival in resource-limited situation.&nbsp;</p>
