Change management functions of Project Management Office

<p>It is difficult to overestimate the importance of changes and change management for modern organizations operating in the highly turbulent and competitive business environment. Given the fact that organizational changes are often considered as projects many issues on the interaction between change management and project management still remain unclear.</p><p>The object studied in the proposed paper is an organizational unit related to the project management functions called Project Management Office (PMO). According to the problem mentioned, the general purpose of the study proposed is to try to fill the gap between the notions of Project management office and change management by studying PMO roles and functions in change management activities held in the companies. To achieve this goal the thorough investigation of change management and PMO literature has been provided, existing CM and PMO models have been identified and compared, &nbsp;an attempt to reveal the possible relations between them and suggest the ways in which PMO could be applied to improvement of change management practices in organizations has been done.</p><p>Based on the field research conducted in Russian and foreign companies and further analysis of data received conducted by means of MS Excel tools the study assumes that Project Management Office could be a useful tool while implementing any kind of changes. By analyzing the possible roles and functions of Project Management Office in different change types, some suggestions and outcomes that could be useful for change management and project management practitioners are provided. &nbsp;As well the study proposes possible areas for further research.</p>
