Analysis of Teachers’ Work-Life Balance Satisfaction at National Research University Higher School of Economics

<p style="text-align: justify;">Master&rsquo;s thesis consists of 90 pages, 38 literature sources used, 2 appendixes. The work is done at the human resource management department.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Work-life balance topic is very popular in foreign countries and there is a vast variety of surveys on this topic. However there are a lot of different definitions is of the term as well as ways of research. The majority of surveys cover work-life balance problem among office workers only, but there are a lot of other areas in which investigation of work-life balance satisfaction is also important. Despite all that several surveys on work-life balance of teacher in different countries were made, but there are still no integrated opinion whether teachers really have problems in balancing their work and non-working time.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">Master&rsquo;s thesis is aimed to analyze the satisfaction level among teachers of National Research University Higher School of Economics as one of the leading Russian universities. Also the goal is to found out which factors have influence on teachers&rsquo; work-life balance satisfaction.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">In the first part of the thesis literature analysis including the results of major European surveys is done. In the second part of the thesis the results of conducted survey are described and recommendations on future ways of research on work-life balance topic in Russian education sector are presented. Quantitative method of research was used and the results of the survey were processed with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Questionnaire used for the survey is presented in the appendix to the master&rsquo;s thesis.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">The results of the survey showed that teachers at National Research University Higher School of Economics are satisfied with work-life balance. Among the main factors influencing the balance they stated contact hours, research work and secondary employment.</p>
