This work is devoted to the protests of the British youth in the suburbs since the early 1980s to 2011. In our survey based on a comparative analysis we study the transformation of youth protests through their causes, the social composition of the participants and the reaction of government and society. The author’s goal is to show the similarities and differences of two large protests’ periods; to trace the differences in rhetoric of the authorities, and what measures have been taken to settle grievances, whether the participants had the ideological and cultural landmarks and how the society has changed its assessment of events under the influence of the media. Key words: protests of youth; protests’ transformation; comparative analysis.
