The Impact of Universities` Information Openness on Consumers` Choice of Paid Educational Services

The study touches upon various aspects of the interaction between informational openness of Russian universities (universities of Ryazan) in the Internet (for example official websites of educational organizations) and consumer choice of applicants, focused on obtaining paid educational services, at the stage of their decision about school choice. Individuals planning to master higher education level of bachelor for the first time, including students studying on a contractual basis and planning to take the course independently (from the budget of a particular household) were selected as consumers. The study investigates the question of the impact of informational transparency of the universities in the Internet by providing information on their official websites on the formation of consumer demand, including demand for paid educational services. It also identifies the differences in the needs of students considering the perspective of studying at their own expense, and consumers planning to study at the expense of the state budget and dwells upon the amount and quality of information openness of higher education institutions, their compliance to customer requests.
