The Evolution of Voter Preferences in the Vladimir Region 1995-2013

The study is focused on the transformation of the electoral preferences of the population of the Vladimir region (Russian Federation) population in the period 1995-2012. Several aspects of the current social, economic and demographic situation of the Vladimir region and its administrative districts is discussed. The major social and economic divisions in the region are revealed on the basis of the undertaken analysis. The results of the elections to the State Parliament (Duma) of the Russian Federation and presidential elections provide valuable information on the dynamics of electoral preferences in the region in the period 1995-2012, on the support of a few leading political blocs and on the influence of local regional factors. The method of comparative analysis of the distinctive features of electoral preferences in the Vladimir and neighboring region , as well as in the Russian Federation as a whole, was applied. The geo-electoral structure of the region and its dynamics is discussed. Maps were composed based on the outcome of the elections, related electoral statistics and quantitative analysis procedures. The forecast of the evolution of the electoral preferences of the population of the Vladimir region in short and medium term is developed.
