Funeral Ritual in the Han Dynasty

It is widely thought in the era of Chunqiu and Zhanguo funerary ritual in various kingdoms had its own distinctive features. The main objective of the research is to find out whether the regional differences were in the funeral cult during the Han Dynasty or establishment of the empire with the central government completely erased them. We examined the archaeological source, created tables in which we identified dominant and peripheral features of individual graves, and found that most of these differences disappeared during the Han Dynasty, while other main features of the funeral cult like orientation in the cardinal directions and type of burials become the same across all China.
