The Concept of Heart-Mind (Xin) as the Basis of “Moral Metaphysics” in the New Confucianism

The present paper represents a study that examine the philosophy of new Confucianism on the example of Mou Zongsan’s works. Its attention is basically focused on the meaning of the concept of heart-mind "xin", and the place of this concept in the system of Mou Zongsan’s “moral metaphysics”. This work analyzes the fundamental premises of creation of his philosophical system, studies the process of the development of the Confucian category of heart-mind, examines the transformation of the understanding of this term in connection with Mou Zongsan’s understanding of the teachings of the Lu-Wang Learning of the Mind and Mencius, conducts research on the system of moral metaphysics, highlights the major meanings of the concept of heart-mind within the philosophical thought of Mou Zongsan.
