The Transformation of Egyptian Society During the Reign of Muhammad Ali

In this paper was investigated transformation of Egyptian society during reign of Muhammad Ali. We have touched life of Egyptian society in socio-political and economical terms before Muhammad Ali came to power, examined his reforms (agrarian, military, social, economical and the reform of the state apparatus), analyzed changes in the life of society after this reform. The main policy direction of Muhammad Ali was modernization of society, many manufactures, foreign policy and the life generally. The chronological scope of study is from the end of the XVI century to beginning of the XIX century. We have used russian and foreign sources to write this paper. For example the main source is the book of Abd ar-Rahman Al-Džabarti – one of the richest on the abundance of materials as sources for the history of Egypt from the late XVIII and early XIX centuries.
