Chinese Buddhism as a Syncretic Tradition: Taoist Elements/Views in Chinese Buddhist Texts of the Han Dynasty

This graduation qualification work is dedicated to the study of Chinese Buddhist texts of the Han Dynasty as a syncretic tradition. Research objectives include the translation of 2 Sutras from Chinese to Russian ( "Sutra of eight realizations of great beings" Sutra "Buddha Pronounces the Repentance Sutra in Response to Sariputra", which were translated into Chinese by An Shigao) based on the investigation of translation tradition in China and features of the Buddhist texts translation into Chinese during this period, conducted at the first chapter of the work. Also, this texts were conducted and Taoist ideas and terms used by An Shigao in translation under the influence of already existing in China, philosophical and religious teachings (Taoism) were identified. In analyzing the texts of the sutras I used textual approach, involving the study of features of the internal and external structure of the text. Scientific novelty consists in: the first time there is presented translation of the Sutra "Buddha Pronounces the Repentance Sutra in Response to Sariputra" in Russian, as well as the translation of "Sutra of Eight implementations of the great things" in the Russian from Chinese version, not from the Pali text, and first time where is considered the question of Han Chinese Buddhist texts of the era as a syncretic tradition.
