This paper analyzes market reaction to the stock split announcements and splits. The object of the research is the reaction of the market, and the subject is corporate events, which will push prices in one or another direction. On the basis of the results obtained with the application of the event methodology, it was found that the market responds positively to news of the impending split. The only exceptions are the healthcare industry and the energy sector, in which the cumulative abnormal return after the announcement began to decline. Considering the market reaction to the split it was received that this corporate event is perceived negatively, that is, the CAR decreased. The only exception was the financial sector where quotes began to grow. In addition, the results obtained by different models for evaluation of the normal return, showed approximately the same results.

This study consists of 4 chapters: the first chapter provides a detailed review of the existing literature, the second chapter describes the research methodology, the third chapter provides a detailed description of the sample, and the fourth interprets the results and makes conclusions.
