Analysis of Russian Football Economics
Joint HSE-NES Undergraduate Program in Economics
This paper examines three aspects of functioning of the Russian soccer market and compares them with English analogy. Firstly, it looks at the link between payroll, transfers and team performance. Payroll appeared to be more sufficient than transfer payments same as in England. After that, it proposes the market test for racial discrimination. There is found a statistically significant evidence of it in Russia. Finally, it looks at the relationship between uncertainty of outcome and attendance. The analysis does not find any correlation.
