CEO Characteristics and Firm Performance:Evidence from Russia
The present paper describes a proposed study that examines the relationship between CEO characteristics and corporate performance. The empirical analysis based on the sample which consists of 350 Russian companies over the period of 6 years (2006-2012). Results obtained show that the main demographic and experience-related characteristics, such as citizenship, tenure, previous work experience as a CEO and holding of external board seats have positive influence on corporate performance, while previous work experience in industry and in public service have negative relation with firm performance. At the same time gender and age do not influence corporate performance.
