Features of Tourism Product Competitiveness Formation on the International Food Tourism Markets

This graduation thesis investigates gastronomic tourism as form of modern, dynamically developing, and profitable type of tourism in the concept of experience economy. The goal of this work is to identify the main features of tourism product competitiveness formation in different countries and to highlight the importance of the development of this type of tourism in various regions of Russian Federation for its tourism attractiveness in the international arena. The definitions of main terms are presented in this work. It is spoken in detail about different types of tourism. Three classifications of tourism segments demonstrate the categories, which tourism agencies and agents should focus on to develop tourism and, particularly, gastrotourism in their region. Much attention is given to the diversity of national dishes, service culture, variety of culinary brands, marketing strategy and other factors that influence the level of destination’s popularity and the competitiveness of tourism product it offers. The graduate thesis also gives a detailed analysis of trends of gastronomic tourism development in the world and in Russia. There is also some advice for Russia to make gastrotourism the engine of Russian economy. Keywords: gastronomic tourism, gastronomic tourist, experience economy, tourism product competitiveness.
