Communication Aspect Features of Civic Engagement by the Example of Anti-Corruption Non-Profit Organizations

This research refers to a subject of communication studies. An object of the research is the phenomenon of civic activism in Russia. A subject of the research is the communicational aspect of civic activism in the process of involvement of Russian citizens to civic activism. Particularly anti-corruption non-profit organizations will be studied. The main research question of the study is whether Internet campaigns have any positive effect on Russian citizens to stimulate participation in civic activism in anti-corruption non-profit organizations. In the first part of the research the concept of civil activism and political importance of citizens' initiatives and social movements in modern Russia is considered. In the second part the role of communication of anticorruption non-profit organizations in involvement of new voluntary participants is considered. And the final practical part is focused on supporting theoretical part with opinions and advices from those who has been already involved in civic activism. Based on the data obtained, the following hypothesis was formulated: the most effective tool to attract new civic activists to participate in non-profit organizations' activities is communication in social networks. The results anticipated could lead to a better understanding of the specifics of communication between the non-commercial sector and society in the process of building civil society.
