The Effects of the Deoffshorization Measures in Russia on FDI Flows into Member-Countries of the Eurasian Economic Union

2016
In 2015, Russian deoffshorization measures were implemented and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) was established. There may be some correlation between these two events. The paper examines if the Russian deoffshorization policy leads to the growth of FDI flows within member states of the EAEU. The methodology consists of:

1) Examining the levels of FDI flows in the EAEU at different stages;

2) Examining the dynamic of investments coming into member countries of a regional grouping before and after their entry by the example of NAFTA, ASEAN and CARICOM;

3) Assessing the effectiveness of the deoffshorization policy.

Through the analysis of findings, the research proves that the level of integration and FDI flows are directly proportional. Moreover, there is an increase of FDI flows in world international groupings. Furthermore, deoffshorization policy is effective in a long-term perspective. As a result, deoffshorization measures in Russian Federation may lead to FDI inflow into member- countries of the EAEU.
