Problems and Prospects of Import Substitution in the Russian Mining and Manufacturing Industries

The paper is devoted to analysis of Russian mining and manufacturing sectors potential to implement the import substitution policy. In the light of Western sanctions imposed against Russia, subsequent oil price fluctuations and ruble depreciation, the dependence on foreign suppliers has some risks of deterioration of operating and financial performance of companies. Future development and risks for these vulnerable sectors are identified here, for the branch of import substitution especially. The results will contribute to designation of problems and prospects of import substitution in the aforementioned industrial sectors.
