Statistical Analysis of the Parameters of the System of Preparation for the Admission to the University

In this work was carried out a statistical analysis of the parameters of additional training of Moscow students for the EGE. The topic of this study is urgent nowadays: the problem of choosing the most effective strategy to prepare for the exam is of concern to many students and their parents, but a statistically significant answer to this question still has not. Preparing with a tutor and on specialized training courses - two of the most popular models of additional preparation for the exam were considered to solve this problem. The parameters of additional training are cash and temporary investments, as well as student characteristics such as gender, school performance, career guidance and the fact that learning in school with intensive study of core subjects. The empirical base amounted to data obtained by independently conducted a sample survey of applicants who passed the EGE in 2015. With the help of the methods of correlation and regression analysis, significant training model were built with a tutor and specialized courses. As explanatory variables acted average EGE score in Russian language and mathematics, as covariates - listed options for additional training. The following results were obtained: gender and school student performance does not affect the final score of the exam; in the model of training with a tutor the most significant monetary investment, while in the model of preparing on specialized courses the most significant time investment rates; career guidance and the fact of learning in a specialized school are significant in both models of training. The results are important for the formation of the most effective strategy for preparing for the exam for any type of learner.
