Electronic Commerce in Russia – Legal and Regulatory Framework

Economic relations in Russia have existed in various forms throughout all the stages of its history. Nowadays they are moving towards the virtual space, where traditional social relations are developing under the specific rules of the Internet. Thus the phenomenon of electronic commerce is forming. Despite this fact electronic commerce has not yet found either proper scientific justification or all-round structured legal regulation. This is precisely why the author analyses the recent theoretical investigations and the extant regulatory framework of this phenomenon. The exploration of legal doctrine has helped to reveal the most problematic issues of electronic commerce. After studying the legal basis of the question it has become possible to identify the existing gaps in the legislation on electronic commerce. The contribution made due to the study is of great significance as it highlights the pressing issues of the regulatory framework of electronic commerce relations, and thus fills the gaps in the legislation in particular, by the development of civil legislation on electronic commerce.
