Technology Acceptance Model: Evidence from Mobile Banking in Russia

The history of mobile banking in Russia started more than ten years ago in 2004 and by now the variety of banks and services offered has increased dramatically. However, mobile banking in Russia lags behind other banking services and there is still the adoption problem of mobile banking services. In the current study, the acceptance of mobile banking apps in Russia is studies through technology acceptance model (TAM) by Davis. The provided with mobile banking apps ability to access banking functions anywhere and anytime can, on the one hand, provide users with unavailable previously comfort and ease of work with their accounts, transaction and payments; and on the other, creates new communication channels for banks as service providers to meet the clients’ needs better and gives them an opportunity to build more effective and profitable model of the business. Based on TAM, key factors influencing mobile banking usefulness and ease of use are identified. The results found out that the majority of mobile banking in Russia consider these services useful and easy to use and these opinions are influenced by the factors of mobility, services provided and users’ technology self-efficacy.
