The paper analyzes the place and role of South-East Asia of the US and China security policies, as well as the evolution of the US-China approach to regional security system. Among the priority areas of the United States at an early stage of activation in the region, was to prevent from the spread of communism in the region, while China before losing to Vietnam in 1979, was the active support of various Maoist and other militant groups in Southeast Asia. After the collapse of the bipolar system, the US security policy and China have changed dramatically. It may be noted that the current situation is a breakthrough, despite strong economic interdependence, China and the US in the medium term, their rivalry in the region will lead to a reorganization of the security system in the region, as well as to an increase in the arms race. The conclusion of the paper is that there will not the formation of the rules (modus vivendi) between the two countries as there was between the USSR and the USA in the near future. U.S and China cannot be dependable balancers on turbulent geostrategic situation in Asia. All this should lead to deepening of the strategic confrontation in Southeast Asia.
