Determinants of Transfer Value of Football Players in Top European Leagues

Nowadays the transfer market for professional sportsmen particularly football players is fast growing. New records of transaction ammount are set up every year. Consequently, transfer fees and factors affecting them are of big interest for studying. As a result, market value of a football player was introduced. Though it is objective and accepted by football experts, the market value greatly differs from the transfer fee frequently (real market price for assignments of rights for a football player). This study aims to research the difference between transfer fees and market values and the coefficients affecting them. The database used in this study was collected through additional software and is unique, it allows providing nontrivial results. Further development of this study implies extension from cross-sectoral data to panel data.
