Governance Structures in Global Value Chains in Aviation Industry

This paper looks into the governance structures in global value chains (GVCs) in aviation industry. It considers both theory and methodology of GVCs' analysis and emphisizes the special nature of GVCs in aviation industry. The set of institutional factors that may affect aviation companies' activities throughout GVCs is developed and analyzed. Author explores the key role of national policy for new aircraft manufacturers due to the knowledge - and capital intensity of aviation industry. Yet, cooperation with leading american and european manufacturers is vital for improving companies position in GVCs. In conclusion, recommendations are made to boost the involvement of russian aircraft manufacturers in GVCs.
