The master’s thesis concerns « The Role of the Science and Technology Policy of the EU in Strengthening its Position on the World Stage». The object of the study is the strategy of competitiveness of the EU. The subject of this research is the Science and Technology Policy of the European Union. The author answers the question “Is the Strategy “Horizon 2020 an efficient mechanism to strengthen the competitiveness of the EU”. This aim involves the following tasks: to analyze the European index of competitiveness and the index of soft power, describe the level of foreign direct investment to Europe and to compare it with other economies of the world.

In conclusion the author gives specific advices to economists, scientists and investors about the dynamics of the economic system of the EU, which includes the Science and Technology Policy
