The paper is devoted to the phenomenon of "thick" literary journals, their problems and prospects, as well as analysis of their inclusion in the new – digital - age. The author analyzes the current state of this type of magazines, describes steps taken by the editorial boards of the journals "Noviy Mir" and "Nash Sovremennik" and “Drujba narodov” in the situation of media convergence and new conditions of media consumption.
