Internet Meme as an Art Object : the Specifics of Art and Existence in the Media Environment

Internet memes are considered as a special kind of contemporary digital culture and media environment in this thesis. The aim of the study is to identify the specifics of artistic Internet memes and their existence in the media environment. The main hypothesis is that Internet memes are also part of the dsigital art and media, and they have different functions on the basis of which stand out various forms of existence and identity. The study includes a theoretical part, in which we consider the concept of "digital art", "meme", "Internet meme", conduct historical and cultural connotations. The practical part of the work includes the classification of internet memes on different grounds, detection of their functions and features. In addition, there are four basic forms of existence of Internet memes in the media environment. The work consists of two chapters, each of which includes five sections. The thesis contains 84 pages, including references and sources.
