After gaining Canada British administration tried to integrate Quebec into colonial system of the Empire. The approaches were absolutely opposite: from the assimilation of the local population to alliance with French Canadians. The last aspect was realized by establishing Quebec bill which restored the French civil law and Catholic clergy. Canadians were pleased by this act. Nevertheless, it triggered a strong indignation of the people of the Thirteen Colonies, who considered the bill as the act of despotism and oppression. The following research examines both of these views using the periodical literature and reveals unusual facts concerning the perception of the act in societies of Great Britain. Results of research illustrate the complicated issue of the amendment of the act and its perception among the population of British Empire.
