Within the framework of the current economic situation in Russia: the fall in world oil prices, a sharp economic downturn, the devaluation of the national currency - companies need to use all available means in the arsenal not to only lose market position, but also to strengthen the position and remain competitive. Currently, one of the key performance indicators of the company is its market value, which is mainly generate intangible assets or intellectual capital. It is therefore necessary to assess how the IC helps companies not only to overcome the period of crisis, but also to show a positive performance.

This study will assess the effect of IC on the activities of companies based on panel data of the International Laboratory of Economics of intangible assets by Russian companies in the period of 2006-2012 years. The study hypothesized that characterize the dependence of IC and the company's performance, as well as built model specification for testing hypotheses set. Based on the study of literature as the dependent variable measure of economic value added (EVA) was chosen as the independent variables are presented the components of intellectual capital. Also the variable responsible for the tangible assets of companies was included in the model. The following results were obtained: IC has a strong influence on Russian companies, both before and during and after the crisis; moreover, since the IC to a certain extent is an investment that it may influence the results in previous periods of companies would be important only at the moment.
