Any company entering a foreign market faces a choice between different market entry strategies. One of the main questions that arise is whether to start by exporting or investing in a foreign market. Every strategy has its own benefits and drawbacks that are influenced by certain external and internal factors. The current paper studies the difference between export and investment market entry strategies for Russian companies entering the European market. As an example of the process of choosing the foreign market entry strategy, the case of Pozhneftekhim Group of Companies, a Russian foam fire-fighting and water cooling systems manufacturer, was described.
