From Longread to the Virtual Museum: Formats and Tools of Multimedia Storytelling

The research aims to analyze specifics, formats and instruments of multimedia storytelling. The possible classification criterias, particularly the composition and structure of materials were studied, which were written in the genre of storytelling. The following research objectives were determined: develop a professional synopsis on the format of a multimedia longread as a particular case of multimedia storytelling, provide recommendations for the practitioners of the multimedia newsrooms, study the history of emergence and transformation of the concept and practical use of the multimedia storytelling. More than 200 multimedia projects were analyzed and general criterias were indentifed, which helped in formulating typology of multimedia storytelling.
