Nowadays any state, that has long-term international goals, should have cultural resources in addition to economic and political ones. This study considers "soft power". Soft power involves building strong relations and images on the societal level, which can be a good basis for any political contacts in the future. Today, in the era of information society, soft power as a factor in the formation of image of a state is as popular as it has never been before. In this study we consider such a powerful tool of "soft power" as pop culture, and in particular – the TV series. The aim of this research is to analyze the process that forms the image of Russia in american pop-culture.
